Women's Ministry

The WMU began in Richmond, VA in 1888 as the Women's Mission Societies, Auxiliary to the Southern Baptist Convention.  Since its inception, this self governing and self supporting helper to the Southern Baptist Convention has become the largest Protestant missions organization for women in the world with a membership of nearly one million. Its primary focus has not changed since its founding; that is, to educate and involve adults, youth and children in the cause of Christian missions.

The WMU sponsors three annual offerings to support missions here in the states and around the world.  These Are:

The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering which benefits North American Missions and is collected during the month of March.  For more information go to www.anniearmstrong.com

The Alma Hunt Fall Offering which benefits Virginia State Missions and is collected in September/October.  For more information go to www.almahunt.org

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering which benefits International Missions and is collected in December.  For more information, go to www.imb.org

In May of each year, the WMU hosts a mother/daughter tea.  Our attendance in 2016 for this fun activity was nearly 40.  With the full participation of the church, the WMU is instrumental in many local missions opportunities.
