Music Ministry

Music prepares the heart of those who worship to receive the revelation of God through His Word and by His Spirit.  Music is an experience; an experience that can prepare people for worship but can be a worship experience in itself.  Church music should lift up the name of Jesus in a clear and concise way.  The message in the songs is important because scripture, theology and Christian principles can all be taught through sacred song. Music in the church should not be used as a platform to showcase one’s own talents but should be used to present the ultimate gifts that Jesus Christ has to offer including, but not limited to, salvation and an eternal home in heaven.

Mission Statement

The mission of the New Hope Baptist Church Music Program is to:

a)      Prepare the hearts of the congregation for the preaching of the Word of God

b)      Bless the members of the congregation and choir alike thru the singing of spiritual songs, praise songs and           hymns

c)      To lead the congregation in singing

d)     To be an example to members of the church through the testimony of their lives

e)      To provide an area of service for church members

Suzanne Blaine has been the music director at New Hope Baptist Church for over 3 years.  Her responsibilities include selecting, overseeing, preparing and directing the adult and youth choirs, congregational hymn selections and scheduling special music. She has been singing in church since the age of 3 and is now lead singer in the Southern Gospel Group, The Gospelaires, in which her husband and her mother are also members. Her husband of 9+ years, Jim, also shares her love of music.  He plays guitar.  They have a son, Tanner, at home and a daughter, Ashley who is stationed with her husband, SGT David Tydings in Twenty-Nine Palms CA.  They live in Spotsylvania where  Suzanne is also a school bus driver for Spotsylvania County Schools.  In their spare time they enjoy spending time together and with their 4 dogs.  They believe that God has placed them at NHBC and given them the talent to be workers in his fields.

The church is also blessed with beautiful piano accompaniment from Linda Brant, a member of New Hope for more than 30 years.
