WMU

The Women's Missionary Union (WMU), also known informally as the New Hope Tea Ladies, is dedicated to Christian fellowship and service.  We typically meet the second Wednesday of each month at 10AM, and are exploring the potential of a second group for those who work during the day.  More on this as details become known.

The photo below shows the tea ladies at their late Summer luncheon, held at the Plaid Rabbit.

Did you know that every day more than six million Americans face the threat of hunger?  These folks are our neighbors, our friends, our family, and they don't want to be a burden, so they suffer in silence.  Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:37-40 that we have should feel compelled to help those around us who are in need:  "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?'...The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"

The WMU is now operating a food pantry out of the fellowship hall.  The pantry is open from 9AM - noon on the first and third Wednesday of each month.  They welcome donations of non-perishable foods like the following:  canned tuna or meats, rice, hot or cold cereal, canned fruit or vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, chunky soups, pasta, etc.
